Skin Tag Is Really Not A Game
What Is A Skin Tag?Ads by Google
Persons who have skin tags know that skin tag is not some exotic game. What we’re talking about here is neither
playground nor bedroom entertainment. Skin tags, aside from being ugly and distracting to the eye, can be a source of ongoing physical
irritation, discomfort, and possibly pain, depending on where they are located.
If you have them, you already have an idea, though some people may confuse them with
warts or moles. The distinction is important because the verruca, or wart, is the result of human papilloma virus
(HPV). Warts are contagious and can easily be passed on from one person to another through direct contact.
Skin tags are not the result of a virus, nor are they contagious. Knowing the difference between a wart, a mole,
and a skin tag is important because each requires a different treatment approach.
A skin tag is actually a small skin tumor that emerges from the skin from a connecting stalk. Skin tags are
benign. Unlike moles, they have little potential for becoming cancerous.
Cutaneous Papilloma and Acrochordons?
Skin tags also go by the names cutaneous papilloma and acrochordons. That’s why we call them skin tags. Much
easier to remember.
Medical science has managed to put these seemingly useless pieces of warped skin to good use. They have been
used by plastic surgeons to help reconstruct ears and noses, for example.
The skin tag is generally harmless, but as we mentioned, it can be a pain if it is
located anywhere on your body where there is constant rubbing, either through skin on skin friction, or clothing on skin
friction.
Though harmless for the most part, skin tags in some instances may indicate underlying health problems. They
themselves do not cause the problem, but may be the result, or symptom, of an underlying problem.
Like any other skin condition or abnormality, it is important to learn as much as you can about it. Your skin is
unique, and will often show you that something is wrong on the inside. Maybe something about your diet, toxins in your digestive tract, a
vitamin deficiency, or any other number of factors can be what is wreaking havoc on your skin.
It is important for you to learn as much as you can about your skin and your body. Ultimately, you are
responsible for your own health. You should become the person best equipped to find what makes you and your skin the healthiest and most
attractive it can be.
Skin Tag Causes
We’re still not sure how the emergence of skin tags is actually triggered. However, there are a number of
factors that have been commonly thought to cause them.
Skin tags can sometimes emerge as a result of rubbing or friction of the skin.
Skin tags often develop on pregnant women.
Other conditions also appear to favor the development of skin tags. Atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, and
insulin resistance are often cited as being associated with higher number of skin tags.
Genetics plays a role as well. Members of some families may be more prone to developing skin tags than members
of other families.
Connection to HPV Virus?
Though not contagious, like warts, skin tags may have a connection with the HPV virus. Biopsies of skin tags
taken from a sampling of patients revealed HPV DNA in 88% of the biopsies obtained.
The vulnerability to infection would apply to any skin that is dry, thin, or damaged in any way. Small cracks in
the skin are gateways for the entrance of any number of germs, bacteria or viruses. That is why keeping your skin healthy is critical not
only for beautiful and younger-looking skin but for your overall health as well.
Skin tags are more an inconvenience and aesthetic eyesore than a threat to your health. Only very rarely will
one turn cancerous. If they become overly burdensome they can always be removed either surgically or naturally.
